Building a Digital Platform for Professional Self-Presentation
We designed and developed a scalable digital platform that helps professionals present their experience more effectively while enabling consultancies to create consistent, permission-controlled candidate profiles.
Our Customer’s Challenge
A professional services start-up identified a persistent problem in recruitment and consultancy: highly capable people were often failing to communicate their experience, value, and suitability for opportunities clearly.
Traditional CVs were static, inconsistent, and frequently focused on responsibilities rather than demonstrable outcomes. Professionals lacked practical guidance on how to structure their experience, tailor their public profile, and confidently communicate the contribution they had made in previous roles. Consultancies faced a parallel challenge, with candidate information spread across documents and systems, making it difficult to produce consistent, branded profiles without duplicating work or losing the individual’s voice.
The organisation wanted to turn its specialist knowledge and methodology into a digital platform that could support both individuals and consultancy businesses. The platform needed to provide structured personal and company profiles, embedded guidance, document handling, flexible profile sections, and controlled collaboration between professionals and the organisations representing them.
Our solution
We worked with the client to translate the initial concept into a structured product roadmap, technical architecture, and scalable web application.
The solution was designed around reusable profile components that allow professionals to organise their experience into clear activities, skills, responsibilities, actions, and outcomes. Contextual guidance was embedded throughout the platform, helping users improve their CV content, public profile, communication style, and professional presentation as they worked.
We developed functionality enabling individuals to create and maintain their own profiles, control which sections were included, and upload supporting content. Consultancies could create company-level profiles, showcase their capabilities and recent work, and maintain summary profiles for the professionals working with them.
A permission-based representation model was designed so that a consultancy could request authority to represent an individual for a specific opportunity. Once approved, the consultancy could produce a branded version of the professional’s profile without removing the individual’s ownership or control of the underlying information.
The platform was delivered using a modern Microsoft Azure architecture, providing a secure and extensible foundation for future capabilities. We also supported the development of related digital tools, including an interactive employment and remuneration calculator, translating complex calculation rules into an accessible React-based user experience.
Throughout delivery, we combined product discovery, user experience design, software engineering, cloud architecture, testing, and iterative stakeholder validation to move the proposition from an early-stage concept towards a commercially viable digital product.
