Building a Scalable SaaS Platform for Workplace Safety Management
We designed and developed a secure, multi-tenant SaaS platform that enables organisations to report, investigate, analyse, and manage workplace safety incidents more effectively.
Our Customer’s Challenge
A workplace safety technology company had identified an opportunity to improve how organisations record, investigate, and learn from health and safety incidents. Many businesses still relied on spreadsheets, paper forms, emails, and disconnected systems, making incident management slow, inconsistent, and difficult to govern.
The company needed to transform its product concept into a commercially viable SaaS platform capable of supporting multiple customer organisations while keeping each customer’s users and data securely separated. The platform needed to cover the full incident lifecycle, from initial reporting and investigation through to corrective actions, management oversight, and analytics.
As the company’s first software product, the solution also needed to provide a strong foundation for future growth. It had to balance speed to market and cost-effective delivery with security, scalability, usability, operational control, and the flexibility to evolve as customer requirements matured.
Our solution
We led the design, development, testing, and deployment of a multi-tenant health and safety incident management platform using a low-code development approach.
Working closely with the client, we translated the initial product vision into structured user journeys, functional requirements, data models, workflows, and role-based access controls. The platform was designed to provide a consistent and intuitive experience while supporting the different responsibilities of employees, investigators, managers, and system administrators.
The solution included capabilities for reporting incidents, capturing evidence, managing investigations, assigning actions, monitoring progress, and analysing safety trends. Automated workflows and notifications helped ensure that incidents and corrective actions were progressed consistently rather than becoming lost in emails or disconnected records.
Particular attention was given to tenant separation, permissions, auditability, data protection, and operational governance. We also established structured development, testing, release, and support processes to reduce delivery risk and provide the controls required for safety-critical functionality.
The resulting architecture created a configurable product foundation that could support new customers, integrations, reporting requirements, and future feature development without requiring the platform to be rebuilt.
